strange actions that you simply will not remember when you awaken?

Rapid Eye Movement (REM).
When you dream, your eyes move from side to side to witness what happens in your dreamscape. Blind people also experience REM.

Exploding Head Syndrome (EHS).
When a person (usually 50 years or older) hears an imaginary and loud
noise as he or she falls asleep or begins to awaken, that's EHS!

Hypnic Jerks.
Hypnic Jerks are a falling sensation you may experience as you begin to
drift off. It typically happens because of excess energy, or because
muscles relax sending your brain a signal that you are falling.

Somniloquy: Talking In Your Sleep.
Children are more likely to talk in their sleep than adults, and men are
more likely to talk than women. Causes of somniloquy may include
stress, illness, depression.

Snoring.
Snoring happens when throat muscles relax during sleep. The relaxed
muscles cause narrowing in the throat, and when the throat narrows too
much, snoring results.

Somnambulism.
Somnambulism, or sleepwalking, can cause a person to perform a variety
of tasks in their sleep, some of which can be quite complex. Thankfully,
this is not common.
