7 Drinks You Should Avoid at All Costs

#1 Processed Lemonade
We're talking about the packaged lemonade powders that you buy pre-made. They're filled with artificial flavoring, crazy amounts of sugar and preservatives, which makes this traditional summer drink as toxic as sodas. You're better off with home squeezed fresh lemons, while going easy on the sugar or try honey as a sweetener to be certain that the lemonade you’re drinking is actually healthy and good for you.

#2 Too Much Alcohol
Simply put, pickling yourself can cause Alcohol Liver Disease (ALD), and although regular red wine works as a natural anti-inflammatory and even prevents cancers, moderation is key. Additionally when a person consumes dangerous amounts of alcohol persistently they can develop "memory blackouts and idiosyncratic intoxication or pathological drunkenness symptoms", NOT to mention the extra calories can lead to obesity and heart disease.

#3 Sugary Sodas
Soda or sugary drinks are basically liquid sugar that your brain doesn’t recognize as calories AND so you may end up eating more calories overall. Studies reveal of ALL the junk foods, "sugar-sweetened beverages are the most fattening". . . AND that says a lot!

#4 Energy Drinks
They may give you an immediate energy boost, but did you know you can actually die after consuming too much of this liquid speed? This is due in part when the manufacturers add concentrations of caffeine, taurine, ginseng and other chemicals that shock your body to stay awake when it may really want to sleep, hence the reason these drinks are popular, right? Additionally an alarming dangerous trend is mixing energy drinks with alcohol. The combination can be problematic for the heart and body's nervous system overall.

#5 Diet Sodas
Yikes! Did you know that diet sodas contain preservatives that regular sodas don't? The preservatives sodium benzoate or potassium benzoate are in nearly ALL diet sodas, and studies reveal they have the ability to cause severe damage to DNA in the mitochondria to the point of inactivating it. Additionally drinking a diet soda a day was found to be linked to a 34% higher risk of metabolic syndrome, with symptoms of belly fat and high cholesterol leading to heart disease and diabetes.

Diet Sodas will not help you lose weight despite what their manufactures say. Artificial sweeteners actually disrupt the body's natural ability to regulate calorie intake based on their sweetness, MAKING you more likely to overeat!

#6 Vitamin Water
Have you ever wondered how Vitamin Water tastes good and is brightly colored when there's no juice in it? Vitamin water does contain vitamins as stated, but it also contains mega amounts of sugar, artificial coloring and flavoring, and chemicals allowing it a long shelf life. You're better off drinking plain water or make your own by mixing fresh juice with filtered water to avoid excess amounts of sugar.

#7 Frozen Mixed Drinks
The big problem with these delicious cocktails is the huge amounts of sugar and calories you end up consuming just in one drink. For instance in the popular Piňa Colada: the rum in a glass is around 100 calories, plus with all the other additives such as sugar sweeteners and mixers, you end up chugging 800-900 calories in one serving alone! Two glasses of Piña Colada will surely cover your whole daily intake of calories, AND besides the high caloric intake, these drinks are rarely made with real fruits, but have artificial sweeteners not great for your health.
